Each individual, as John Locke would say, is born as a tabula rasa or blank slate. The people around and the environment in which one is raised influences an individual on how she will express herself in society.
Meera Solanki is the perfect example of a remarkably talented young woman who has learned from her family, friends, and experiences. She exemplifies a person with a sweet, yet sophisticated personality, and one who is actively involved in the cultural dance of Bharatnatiyam, school, and the community.
Since the young age of eleven, Meera has been participating in the Nritta School of Dance under the guidance of Guru Anushya. Attending weekly classes has moulded Meera into a gifted dancer and each year she displays her skills by performing in the Annual Stockton Diwali Show and Annual Nritta Dance recital. Not only does Meera dedicate her time to dancing, but she participates in a variety of scholastic and extracurricular activities. Currently 17 years old and a senior at Tokay High School, Meera is president of the National Honors Society and participates in academic clubs such as Science Bowl and Science Olympiad. She has developed leadership skills and has earned the Athletic Scholar and Academic Award. At this time education is her focus, but she enjoys other activities such as tennis, ping-pong, volunteering and socializing with friends and family. By completing her Arangetram, Meera is proving her dedication tp this art form and is determined to fulfill her other long-term academic goals.

Sravani Sagireddy exemplifies hard work and dedication in everything she does. This dedication has helped her to be a good dancer and is blessed with an expressive face and a natural flair for dance. She started learning Bharatnatyam at the Nritta School of Dance with Guru Anushya Rajendra, at the age of ten. She has had the opportunity to showcase her talent at the Annual Stockton Diwali show, as well as the Nritta School of Dance’s Annual Recital. The dance not only helped her learn about Indian culture but also discipline, teamwork, creating strong stage-presence, volunteerism and social interaction, all of which help lead her life successfully.
